Letters From Some
of Doug's Fans
I had written a letter on a website and these are a
few responses I received

I saw your article on the BBI. I am one and still am Doug's biggest fans.
I have many items
on him including the media guides from the University of Kentucky and all
Giants media guide. I have many pictures, artilces, and even one of his
jerseys that he wore with the Giants. If there is anything
I can help you with let me know.  I was only able to meet him once. I
followed his career thoughly.
Thanks and once again sorry for your loss

This letter was received with photo's of Doug
from Art.

I can tell you that my wife and i met Doug in the Marriot inn in Milwaukee
the evening before the Packer game in 1980.  He was eating with Joe Danelo
(he was our place kicker) and I am not sure  who the third person at the
table was (it may have been Brad Benson but i am not sure). For some reason
my wife liked Joe Danelo and actually she went up to the table and asked
Joe if he were Danelo.  Doug wanted to know how my wife could recognize
Danelo so easily.  He was actually making a joke about Danelo's nose. We
shared a laugh and a few stories. Wished them luck .  I was struck by
Doug's blue eyes. They were quite percing and showed a curiosity and
inteligence that i am sure was there.  He was always a favorite of Giant
fans because of his give it all attitude.

I am sorry I don't have much else to add.  The giants did lose a close one
that day, but they were on the way to becoming a much better team. Its a
shame about Doug.  As a side issue my son is named Douglas

This letter I received via email
from Stephen
